Veteran Canadian receiver Mital close giving Argos record fourth 1,000-yard receiver
Kevin Mital needs 19 yards to hit 1,000 for the first time as Toronto seeks its first four-1000-yard receiver season.
On Friday, Toronto Argonauts receiver Kevin Mital seeks to reach the 1,000-yard plateau for the first time during the regular-season finale against the Montreal Alouettes, needing just 19 yards.
Gaining 19 yards would allow Mital to join teammates Damonte Coxie, David Ungerer III, and rookie Tyler Kahmann, marking the first time in Argonauts history the team has featured four 1,000-yard receivers.
The six-foot, 229-pound Saint-Hubert, Que. native has established career highs this season and credits quarterback Chad Kelly for the receiving corps' success. His first reception Friday will mark the 200th of his pro career.
Although Friday's matchup holds no bearing on the East Division standings, Toronto head coach Mike Miller is using the game to maintain momentum before the playoffs begin.
Toronto hosts the East semifinal on October 31, with the winner advancing to face Montreal in the division final on November 7. Mital anticipates seeing the Alouettes again in two weeks.
