Vernon, B.C., Coach Leads Canada's U15 Women's Softball Team
The 22-player athlete pool will be evaluated as Canada builds toward the WBSC U15 Women’s Pan American Championship and expands its international program.
Vernon's Michelle Webster will lead the newly announced U15 women's national team, coaching 22 athletes ahead of the tentatively scheduled WBSC U15 Women's Pan American Championship in February 2027 in Monter, Colombia.
Softball Canada selected the athlete pool to identify young talent from across the country, providing a pathway for continued development and evaluation. Coach Kaitlyn Cameron of Langley told Softball Canada, "We were encouraged by the depth of talent."
The team athlete pool includes 11 B.C. athletes from Surrey, Langley, Delta, Mission, Port Coquitlam, and Maple Ridge, each demonstrating potential to contribute to the U15 Women's National Team program.
Webster, who received a 2025 National Indigenous Coaching Award from the Aboriginal Sports Circle, leads alongside fellow coach Cameron, with additional staff to be announced closer to the competition.
The 2027 championship builds on Canada's emerging presence in international softball, following a fourth-place finish at the 2025 U15 Women's Pan American Championship in Acapulco, Mexico, and qualification for the Italy Softball World Cup.
