Worried that Veitur's vision of Heiðmörk is too narrow

Veitur says only water conservation considerations are behind plans to limit car traffic through Heiðmörk. The mayor of Garðabær says Veitur's extreme ideas significantly reduce residents' access to natural beauty.

Veitur wants car traffic through Heiðmörk to be restricted and that public vehicles be closed to it. The City of Reykjavík is working with Veitur on a revised zoning plan for Heiðmörk. Work on it is expected to be completed at the beginning of next year, and the zoning plan is a prerequisite for the development of new parking lots in the vicinity of Heiðmörk.
