Four People Dead in Two Separate Crashes on B.C. Roads
RCMP say the Mercedes SUV driver was hospitalized as investigators seek witnesses and dash-cam footage from the early-stage probe.
On Thursday, Oct. 1, a two-vehicle crash west of Chase on Highway 1 claimed the lives of a Kamloops mother and her 11-year-old son, who were in a Honda Civic.
The collision involved a Mercedes SUV in the 5300 block of Highway 1; while the Honda occupants died at the scene, the Mercedes driver suffered serious injuries and was transported to hospital.
Assisting Chase RCMP with the investigation, The RCMP Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service attended the scene. RCMP Cpl. Brett Urano stated that "as this investigation is in its infancy, investigators are working to determine exactly what occurred."
Later the same day, New Hazelton RCMP reported a head-on collision on Highway 16 between a semi-trailer and pickup truck, killing two men and bringing the provincial highway death toll to four.
Police are seeking witnesses or dash camera footage from both crash areas between 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. on Thursday. Anyone with information is urged to contact Chase RCMP or New Hazelton RCMP.
