Many deaf children in Laos cannot go to school because they are discriminated against because there is a lack of qualified teachers trained in deaf pedagogic or sign language and because they cannot pay the school fees. The Hands of Hope School for the Deaf was founded in 2010 by Sophaphone Heuanglith, who wanted to offer deaf youths in Laos education and opportunities. The aim of Hands of Hope is to create this school.
