Two-time AL Cy Young winner Tarik Skubal will rejoin the Detroit Tigers after his single World Baseball Classic start to preserve his season and upcoming free agency value.
- Team USA manager Mark DeRosa announced Monday that Tarik Skubal will return Tuesday, March 10, to Lakeland to rejoin the Detroit Tigers after one World Baseball Classic start.
- Last month, Skubal said he planned to make only one WBC start, then changed his mind after starting against Britain, consulting with A.J. Hinch, Scott Boras, and teammates.
- In his start, Skubal allowed one run on two hits with five strikeouts over three innings and threw 41 pitches against Great Britain.
- Skubal's return protects his Opening Day start on March 26, as Team USA can replace him with Logan Webb, Paul Skenes, or Nolan McLean if it advances, DeRosa said.
