The United States is circumventing the freeze on payments for the American Patriot air defense system. Money intended for F-35 fighter jets is being allocated to the Patriot program, reports Swiss German broadcaster SRF.
A few months ago, Switzerland announced its intention to reduce its F-35 order and seek an alternative to the Patriot system. Washington, in turn, decided to use legal loopholes in the agreement to force Bern to pay for the fighters in advance.
