A cancer patient died in Uruguay on Friday after undergoing euthanasia, AFP reported, citing a source in the medical chamber. It is the first such case in the country since the adoption of a law on assisted dying for terminally ill patients. The law came into force in April this year.
A 69-year-old woman with terminal cancer was euthanized.
The law on assisted dying came into effect last month.
The 69-year-old patient decided to leave the treatments and undergo the “decent death” procedure, a process in which she was accompanied by one of her children. They assure that there is a growing interest from the outside.
