Residents across the region are bracing for what forecasters say could be one of the coldest weekends in a while.

At 12:21 p.m. on Thursday, the National Weather Service released an extreme cold watch valid from Saturday 4 a.m. until Sunday 10 a.m. for Southern Centre, Southern Clinton and Southern Lycoming as well as Huntingdon, Mifflin, Juniata, Fulton, Franklin, Union, Snyder, Montour, Northumberland, Columbia, Perry, Dauphin, Schuylkill, Lebanon, Cumberland, Adams, York and Lancaster counties.The weather service describes, "Dangerously cold wind chills …

Update: Extreme cold watch for Southeast Pa. for Saturday and Sunday – wind chills below zero

An updated extreme cold watch was issued by the National Weather Service on Thursday at 1:12 p.m. valid from Saturday 3 p.m. until Sunday 10 a.m. for Western Chester, Eastern Chester, Western Montgomery, Eastern Montgomery, Upper Bucks and Lower Bucks as well as Delaware and Philadelphia counties.The weather service states, "Dangerously cold wind chills as low as 15 degrees below possible."
