'Unrivalled' UK clothing company collapses into liquidation after 41 years

Original Blues entered voluntary liquidation on June 4 after 41 years in business, according to The Gazette. Umang Patel of Neum Insolvency was appointed liquidator to oversee the closure.
Founded in 1985, Original Blues sold "expertly crafted" cotton knitwear, with the company's website describing its products as an "unrivalled range of unique, top quality knitwear."
Liquidation is "the formal process of closing a business," BTG Begbies Traynor explains. Once complete, the company ceases to exist and is removed from the register held at Companies House.
Major brands LK Bennett and Claire's closed all stores in April, reflecting a difficult year for the high street as other retailers face widespread financial struggles.
Beyond retail, four airlines have fallen into administration recently, while businesses like Yodel and Las Iguanas navigate restructuring after having "fallen into financial difficulties.
