Normally, unemployment falls in spring and summer. However, this year's decline was less than expected due to the economic situation. Almost 2.92 million people are currently registered as unemployed.

The number of unemployed people in Germany fell by 5,000 to 2.91 million in June compared to May, which is 188,000 more than in June last year. The unemployment rate remained at 6.2 percent in May, up 0.2 percentage points from June last year.
The spring revival in the labour market was already low - it does not look any better in the summer. The fall in unemployment in June reached just 5,000 people.
