EADaily, December 16th, 2025. Volodymyr Zelensky, who has repeatedly refused Washington's compromise proposals for a settlement, said that it had not yet been possible to bring the positions on the issue of territories closer to the United States at the talks in Berlin.
President Volodymyr Zelensky said that the Ukrainian delegation is in fact continuously negotiating with US representatives in order to achieve a result that will meet the interests of the Ukrainian people.
The positions of Kiev and Washington on the division of territories within the framework of the peace agreement between the Russian Federation and Ukraine are still different, said the President of Ukraine, Vladimir Zelensky, after negotiations with the American delegation in Berlin.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said two days of talks with a US delegation in Berlin on ending the war in Ukraine were not easy but productive. An unnamed US official agreed, saying the peace plan would include strong security guarantees for Ukraine. The host, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, also said there was a chance for a "real peace process." The warring parties, however, still disagree on the occupied territories.
