Ukrainian authorities seek to fire, suspend Sense Bank’s leadership amid corruption probe
- On Wednesday, August 19, the Ukrainian government removed Mykola Hladyshenko, chairman of the supervisory board of state-owned Sense Bank, following the launch of the 'Forrest Gump' anti-corruption probe targeting an alleged criminal organization.
- Investigators served suspicion notices under the Criminal Code to several individuals, including former deputy head of the Presidential Office Iryna Mudra, former lawmaker Maksym Mykytas, Vadym Stolar, and Sense Bank management board chair Oleh Stupak.
- Hours after the investigation began, President Volodymyr Zelensky signed a decree ousting Mudra from her position; the state-owned bank remains linked to sanctioned Russian businessmen Mikhail Fridman, Andrey Kosogov, and Petr Aven.
