Ukraine says it hit a railway bridge to Crimea, seeking to isolate the Russian-held peninsula

The strike is part of Kyiv’s campaign to cut Russian supply lines, and Ukraine said more than 60 military targets were hit overnight.

  • On Tuesday, Ukraine struck key infrastructure across Crimea, including the Kerch thermal power plant, a Simferopol liquefied natural gas station, and a rail bridge near Rozdolne, as Kyiv seeks to isolate the Russian-held peninsula.
  • Ukrainian Defense Minister Mykhailo Fedorov said last week that his forces are isolating the peninsula with drones, targeting the rail bridge as a key logistics route for Russian forces in southern Ukraine.
  • Russian-Appointed Governor Sergei Aksyonov canceled all summer camp bookings until Sept. 1, while the Ministry of Sport suspended youth competitions, claiming measures are "aimed solely at ensuring the safety of our children."
  • President Volodymyr Zelenskyy demanded that Belarus remove relay equipment aiding Russian drone attacks, prompting Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov to warn Tuesday that the Kremlin is ready to "ensure the security" of its ally.
  • Ambassador Andrii Melnyk stated Monday that Kyiv remains open to a "just and lasting peace" based on the U.N. Charter, while warning that recent Ukrainian strikes have altered the war's dynamics.
