Ukraine would not agree to membership in the European Union (EU) if it meant permanent restrictions on agricultural subsidies and agricultural exports, the country's agriculture minister said on Wednesday.
KIEV - Ukraine will not agree to join the European Union (EU) if it means permanent restrictions on subsidies for farmers and exports of its agricultural products, Ukrainian Agriculture Minister Taras Vysotsky told AFP on Wednesday.
Ukraine's Agriculture Minister declared that a model of EU accession in which some of Kyiv's agricultural products are permanently restricted from accessing the bloc's market is "unacceptable."
Ukraine said on Wednesday that it opposes the restrictions on its agricultural exports as part of the process of accession to the European Union, while Brussels proposes this type of protection to ease the concerns of the 27 Member States, particularly those of France, reports AFP, reports Agerpres.
