A group of professors and researchers from the Universities of Ljubljana, Maribor and Primorska have drawn attention in an open letter to the increasingly frequent cases of representatives of political authorities refusing invitations to RTV Slovenia news programs.
"Dear RTV Slovenia, we MPs decide for ourselves whether to participate in the broadcasts or not, and neither a group of professors nor the editors of the broadcasts decide this. Journalism, media and communication experts from three universities are calling on representatives of political authorities to stop their practices of avoiding cooperation with RTVS and allow journalists to ask key questions. They are also calling on RTVS and other media outlets to publicly warn against cases of access restrictions and systematic avoidance.
