UK meat company supplying Asda enters administration with 130 jobs at risk
Joint administrators said the meat supplier is winding down operations, with most of its 130 staff facing redundancy and a few retained for close-down work.
On Monday, May 11, 2026, Holmesterne Farm Co. Limited entered administration, appointing Joint Administrators James Clark and Howard Smith of Interpath Ltd to manage the insolvency of the meat supplier stocking Asda products.
Rising costs and unstable finances forced the company into administration after nearly 40 years in business, with increased ingredient, packaging, and factory costs throughout 2025 compounding financial losses.
Managing Director James Clark told The Sun, "Our immediate priority is to support employees through this difficult period, and we will be doing all we can to assist them in the days and weeks ahead." Clark and Howard Smith oversee the closure process.
Most of the 130 staff will face redundancy as operations wind down, though a small number will remain to assist the Joint Administrators with the close-down process.
Holmesterne joins other businesses entering administration recently, including The Original Factory Shop, Quiz, and Denby, reflecting broader retail and manufacturing difficulties across 2026.
