Four UK men on trial accused of raping or assaulting drugged woman
Prosecutors say the men acted with Philip Young, who drugged and filmed his ex-wife and posted more than 500 non-consensual images online.
On Tuesday, four men went on trial at Winchester Crown Court accused of sexually assaulting Joanne Young, who was allegedly drugged and advertised online by her then-husband, Philip Young.
Philip Young, a former Swindon Borough Council councillor, previously pleaded guilty to over 13 years of sexual offenses, including drugging his ex-wife and publishing more than 500 obscene images of her.
Prosecutor Sarah Jones KC warned jurors they would 'see videos of things you cannot then unsee,' arguing the case centers on whether it is 'ever reasonable' to have sex without checking for consent.
Norman Macksoni, Richard Wilkins, Connor Sanderson-Doyle, and Mohammed Hassan have denied the charges, with some allegedly claiming they believed they had consent through arrangements made by Philip Young.
Judge Mr Justice Saini instructed the jury to determine whether the defendants truly believed they had consent or knowingly exploited the victim; the trial is expected to last up to four weeks.
