UK Gas and Electrical Company Collapses Into Administration After 3 Decades
Nicholas Simmonds and Chris Newell of Quantuma Advisory Limited were appointed as administrators as the company faced insolvency and creditor pressure.
On Thursday, October 1, Gas-Elec entered administration after 30 years in business, with Nicholas Simmonds and Chris Newell of Quantuma Advisory Limited appointed as administrators.
Founded in 1996, Gas-Elec provided gas and electrical safety inspections for UK residential properties during a period when the high street faced widespread administration filings.
Under the Insolvency Act 1986, administration provides a statutory moratorium offering "breathing space" for restructuring; administrators have 8 weeks to formulate proposals for creditor approval.
If business assets are sold, proceeds distribute to creditors in statutory priority order; administration ends automatically after 12 months unless extended by court or creditors.
Despite ongoing closures, brands including Evans and Karen Millen returned to the UK high street this year, while Wayfairer Travel Limited suspended services "until further notice.
