More than 8,300 households in southern Vienna were plunged into darkness. The power failure paralyzed public transport and disrupted the lives of thousands of residents. It is the second major blackout in Europe in a matter of days.

On Monday morning there was a power failure in Vienna. The underground line U6 as well as the Badner Bahn could not operate in the short term. Thousands of households without electricity.

A power failure in southern Vienna caused disturbances in public service on early Monday morning. In the meantime, the U6 could not operate between the stations Alterlaa and Westbahnhof, as the Vienna lines confirmed on APA request. Badner Bahn was also affected by the disruption. The power failure had no effect on Meidling station.
