Typhoon No. 6 was nearing the Amami island area of southern Kagoshima Prefecture on June 2 and threatening to bring torrential rain and powerful winds to the Pacific Ocean side of Japan.
Typhoon No. 6 moved northeast over the sea south of Kyushu on the 2nd. It is expected to make its closest approach to Mie Prefecture from the early morning to the morning of the 3rd, potentially bringing torrential rainfall of warning level. Typhoon No. 6 approached southern Kyushu on the 2nd. Heavy rain fell mainly in western Japan, and the Japan Meteorological Agency issued a Level 4 flood risk warning for rivers in Miyazaki Prefecture that afternoon. They also warned of the possibility of linear rainbands forming in southern Kyushu, Shikoku, Kinki, and Tokai, and urged people to be extremely vigilant against landslides and flooding in low-lying areas.
