DROITWICH, AUG 11 – Two teenage girls, aged 13 and 14, were arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire destroyed the historic Raven Hotel, police said.
- On Sunday investigators reported that two girls aged 13 and 14 were arrested on suspicion of arson after a fire at the Raven Hotel in Droitwich, believed to be started deliberately.
- Before the blaze, Wychavon District Council had erected scaffolding around the privately-owned Raven Hotel after debris fell in September 2024, with urgent works due to finish this week under a court order secured earlier this year.
- Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service arrived within two minutes of the 4.45pm Sunday call, deploying eight fire engines and specialist vehicles without casualties.
- The pair aged 13 and 14 were arrested on suspicion of arson following the fire, West Mercia Police said, and they have been released on bail.
- The council said it will issue a further statement very soon regarding the state and safety of the structure after building control officers visited this morning.
