Two People Charged with Murder After Toddler Dies at Home
Police say a complex investigation led to murder, child cruelty and causing or allowing death charges against two suspects.
- On Monday, April 27, police charged Omiel Gordon and Shalom Morgan with the murder of 21-month-old Tobias-John Doyle. The pair are due to appear at Leicester Magistrates' Court.
- Emergency services were called to a home on Mulberry Avenue in Braunstone Frith in November 2023, where Tobias was taken to hospital. He died on December 2, 2023.
- Gordon and Morgan were also charged with causing or allowing the death of a child and child cruelty. Leicestershire Police conducted a complex investigation with family liaison officers supporting the boy's father, Simon Doyle.
- Senior Investigating Officer Detective Inspector Kevin Hames urged the public to avoid speculation during active court proceedings. "My thoughts very much remain with Tobias," Hames said.
- Remembering his son, Simon Doyle said, "Tobias was my best friend," describing him as a "giggly, happy little boy who put a smile on everyone's face.
