An earthquake hit 4.8 degrees on the Richter scale, Sunday, Zindri County, Balekser, western Turkey. The Turkish Disaster and Emergency Management "Avad" stated in a statement that the earthquake occurred at 21:58 local time (18:58 T.J.) Avad indicated that the earthquake was 4.8 degrees deep and 7 kilometres below ground.
Geologist Okan Tüysüz's statement on the Balıkesir earthquake: "It is natural for aftershocks to reach magnitudes up to 5.1. If there is damage, I recommend not entering homes."
