Two Charged in Chesterfield County Drive-by Shooting that Killed 13-Year-Old in 2024
Investigators say the shooting was not intended for Jacob Duncan, and Garcia already was serving a 13.5-year sentence in North Carolina.
- The Chesterfield County Sheriff announced murder charges against Caleb Garcia and accessory charges against Amber Moree Wednesday for the Jan. 26, 2024, killing of 13-year-old Jacob Duncan in Pageland, South Carolina.
- Jacob was standing outside his home on Bennett Road when struck by gunfire that investigators say was not intended for him. The shooting occurred on Jan. 26, 2024.
- Garcia is currently serving a 13.5-year sentence in North Carolina for a separate shooting seven days after Jacob's death. Moree faces charges of accessory after the fact, misprision, and obstruction of justice.
- Sheriff Cambo Streater stated, "This case has weighed heavily on our community and, most importantly, on Jacob's loved ones," as the family waited two years and five months for answers.
- Authorities said the case remains active with additional charges expected. The investigation was led by the Chesterfield County Sheriff with assistance from the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division and Union County Sheriff.
