Two charged after woman, 30, shot dead outside bar in Sheffield
Police say the victim was an innocent bystander, and a fundraiser for her funeral and her son has raised nearly £10,500.
Two people face charges following the fatal shooting of mother-of-one Shanice Brookes, 30, outside the One Four One bar in Sheffield, with both suspects scheduled to appear at Sheffield Magistrates' Court on Friday.
South Yorkshire Police reported Brookes was shot shortly before 2:45 a.m. on Bank Holiday Monday, May 25, following a street altercation; authorities described the charity worker as an "innocent bystander" who died in hospital.
Police charged Jemele Rhone, 30, with murder, firearm possession, and possession of criminal property, while Deiryen Dyce, 32, faces charges including assisting an offender, ammunition possession, and drug offenses, the Crown Prosecution Service confirmed.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Andy Knowles stated the charges mark a "significant step" in providing answers, while the Crown Prosecution Service reminded the public that proceedings are active and defendants have a right to a fair trial.
Officers continue to appeal for information regarding the incident on West Street, as a man previously arrested on suspicion of murder was released earlier this week and is no longer considered a suspect.
