Vegetation and forest fires continue to mobilize significant forces of intervention in Caraș-Severin and Vâlcea counties. According to the Inspector General for Emergency Situations (IGSU), in the Domogled-Valea Cernei National Park area, near the Herculane Baths, the air resource was supplemented on Wednesday with a third Black Hawk helicopter.

Fires of dry vegetation and forest bottoms of the Domogled–Valea Cernei National Park and the Olănești Baths continue to mobilize intervention teams and aircraft, Wednesday, September 30, 2026. In Caraș-Severin, the actions focus with priority on the sectors near the town of Băile Herculane, while in Vâlcea are active several outbreaks upstream of the Iezer Monastery, towards the Bula-Vânturarița massif.
The 14 firefighters in Bihor sent to the forest fire that lasts for almost a month in Domogled–Valea Cernei National Park, near the Herculane Baths, work from morning until evening to extinguish the outbreaks on the slopes. The intervention continues in difficult conditions, and Thursday the Inspector General for Emergency Situations announced that the number of helicopters used to extinguish the fire increases from two to three.
More than 180 firefighters and members of the intervention teams operate in the areas affected by the fires in Caraș-Severin and Vâlcea. At the Herculane Baths, the aerial intervention was supplemented by a third Black Hawk helicopter, while in the Olanesti Baths area two Spartan aircraft were used to extinguish the outbreaks.
Only in one day, two Black Hawk helicopters of the General Aviation Inspectorate carried out 77 water throws, amounting to about 200,000 litres.
