- Trading away their best five relievers last July, the Twins committed to a bullpen rebuild; consequently, the bullpen ranks 27th of 30 major league teams with a 5.03 ERA and allowed 114 hits and 70 runs over 111 innings.
- Sands felt "something odd" warming up Thursday at Target Field; imaging on Friday confirmed the strain after he had thrown 72 innings with 64 strikeouts against 19 walks in 2025.
- Shelton said Klein, 24, will be available for long relief, allowing prospect Andrew Morris to transition from a long to a short relief role to provide late-game flexibility.
- Aiming for a return, Sands said, "I'll just try and get back, try and get stronger out of it and bounce back and be ready to go the last couple months of the season.
