Twins’ Byron Buxton tests out injured hip, could return soon

On Monday, Minnesota Twins center fielder Byron Buxton tested his injured right hip by running bases and taking batting practice with manager Derek Shelton, marking a positive step in his recovery.
Buxton first missed time in May before a July 7 injured list placement; after a brief return, the hip flared up again on July 29, forcing his second stint on the injured list.
Manager Derek Shelton stepped in to throw batting practice for the first time in seven years, which Buxton called "awesome." The session allowed the outfielder to work on hitting mechanics and see "ball flight."
