U.S. forces integrated F-35 fighters and HIMARS long-range fires during Operation TUNDRA MERLIN near Nome, Alaska, on August 4 and 6.
The operation brought together two F-35 Lightning II aircraft, two F-16 Fighting Falcons and a KC-135 Stratotanker from Eielson Air Force Base. An M142 High Mobility Artillery Rocket System, an AN/TPQ-53 radar and soldiers from the 11th Airborne Division also participated.
