- The treaty calls for 1.75 million acre-feet every five years, and Trump said Mexico still owes the U.S. over 800,000 acre-feet for failing to comply over the past five years.
- `As of now, Mexico is not responding, and it is very unfair to our U.S. Farmers who deserve this much needed water`, Trump said, adding Mexico violates the treaty, hurting Texas crops and livestock.
- A spokesperson for Mexico's economy ministry did not immediately respond, and U.S. officials warned the longer Mexico delays releases, the more U.S. farmers are hurt.
- Mexico has argued it faces drought conditions that strain resources, but President Donald Trump said Mexico "has an obligation to FIX THIS NOW" and authorized a 5% tariff to enforce compliance.
