Trump calls on Ukraine to halt strikes on Russian diesel, saying attacks are causing a shortage
Trump said Ukraine’s strikes on Russian refineries are worsening diesel shortages and pushing U.S. fuel prices above $6 a gallon, Reuters reported.
- On Sunday, President Donald Trump urged Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to halt strikes on Russian diesel, citing concerns about fuel shortages caused by the attacks.
- Ukrainian drone campaigns against Russian oil infrastructure have caused fuel rationing across Russia. AAA data shows the U.S. diesel average reached a record $6.20 a gallon, around 68 percent higher than a year earlier.
- Russian drone attacks on Saturday destroyed a residential high-rise in Odesa, killing two people and injuring 26 others. Separately, Ukrainian drone strikes in Tatarstan killed two people and injured 14.
- Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said Moscow remains open to restarting peace talks in autumn, telling reporters, "October cannot be ruled out."
- Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk warned of potential provocations by Moscow at border crossings, noting that cooperation between Warsaw and Kyiv avoided a "direct threat" to a Polish-Ukrainian crossing point earlier this week.
