- While detained in Louisiana, officials pursued removals of Uriostegui Rios, who has a lengthy criminal record since entering the U.S. in 2003, to Costa Rica, Honduras and Nicaragua.
- Attorneys say she was flown from a detention center in Louisiana to Texas on November 11 and taken across the border to Mexico without money, daily medications or a cell phone.
- Her lawyers have sued and are seeking that Uriostegui Rios not return to federal custody, while the government said it would allow voluntary reentry at a port of entry and place her in ICE custody.
- The incident is the latest in a series this year, marking at least the fifth removal and echoing the Kilmar Abrego Garcia case amid documented deadly violence in Mexico by the Trans Murder Monitoring Project.
