Muncie 19-Year-Old Killed in Dearborn County Truck Crash
Indiana State Police said neither occupant wore a seat belt and the road closed for more than four hours after the crash.
- On Tuesday, Sept. 22, 2026, a Muncie man died following a two-vehicle crash in rural Dearborn County, Indiana, according to Indiana State Police, who responded shortly after 6 a.m. on the 8900 block of East State Road 350 near Aurora.
- Trent Laudermilt, 19, of Muncie, was driving a 2003 Chevrolet truck eastbound when he struck a disabled 2008 Chevrolet truck parked along the road. Passenger Jeffrey Cole, 19, was ejected during the collision and died at the scene.
- Investigators determined that neither Laudermilt nor Cole wore seat belts at the time of the crash. Laudermilt sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was taken to a local hospital; Toxicology results for the driver remain pending.
- State Road 350 remained closed for more than four hours near Mount Sinai for investigation and cleanup. The rural location sits about 100 miles southeast of Muncie and 10 miles west of Lawrenceburg, Indiana.
- The Dearborn County Coroner Office confirmed Cole's death, and Indiana State Police continue to investigate the circumstances. Investigators have not yet determined what caused Laudermilt to strike the disabled vehicle.
