Rome, February 8 - We once again find ourselves having to comment on an anti-fascist act of political and ideological vandalism: at the Foiba in Basovizza this morning, three writings in Slavic language 'appeared', one of which is 'Trst je nas' (Trieste is ours) and another 'Trieste is a well'. Sign “161”, the numerical code for the international acronym AFA (Anti-Fascist Action).
In the Italian town of Basovica, near Trieste, a monument to Italians expelled from Yugoslavia after World War II was vandalized, and in Slovenian the inscription on the monument reads "Trieste is ours" and "Death to fascism, freedom to the people."
At night, strangers wrote in Slovenian at the entrance to the memorial area for the victims of the post-war massacres in Bazovica "Trieste is ours" and "Death to fascism, freedom to the nations".

Unknown people desecrated the memorial area for the victims of the post-war massacres in Bazovica at night. At the entrance to it, the words "Trieste is ours" and "Death to fascism, freedom to the people" are written in Slovenian, reports the Primorski dnevnik newspaper. The incident occurred just before the Italian Day of Remembrance for the Foibes and the Exodus of Italians from Istria, Rijeka and Dalmatia, which is commemorated on February 10.
