Powerful Winter Storm System Could Create Hazardous Thanksgiving Travel Across Michigan
Three storm systems will bring snow, rain, and gusty winds across central and eastern U.S., risking flight delays and hazardous road conditions for millions, AAA said.

- A mid-latitude cyclone and strong cold front will draw colder Canadian air over the Great Lakes, causing a rain-to-snow transition and lake-effect snow, the National Weather Service said.
- Heavy bands may produce organized snow bands with one to two inches per hour, 30 to 45 mph wind gusts, gale warnings, and 8 to 12 foot Lake Superior waves.
- AccuWeather warned storms could cause flight delays and cancellations at major hubs, while U.S. Department of Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy said about 6 million people are predicted to fly.
- Looking ahead, forecasters expect another storm system likely to impact Michigan Saturday into Sunday, with conditions clearing by Wednesday as the broader winter-like pattern develops.
