Travel disruption and freezing temperatures amid UK-wide snow and ice warnings
Amber and yellow warnings cover much of the UK as Arctic air brings up to 40cm of snow in Scotland, causing travel disruption, school closures, and health alerts, officials said.
Heavy snowfall has blanketed parts of Scotland, England and Wales, with up to 37cm accumulating in some areas.
The Met Office warned of travel disruptions and increased risk of injury from falls on icy surfaces across Britain.
Freezing temperatures as low as-17C were forecasted for parts of northern Scotland overnight on Saturday.
