Pilot and Instructor Killed as Training Aircraft Crashes in Kanpur
Police said the twin-engine trainer exploded in flight before crashing, and investigators are examining a possible technical malfunction.
On Thursday, a training aircraft crashed near Nattha Purwa village along the Ganga in Kanpur, Uttar Pradesh, killing one pilot and leaving another critically injured.
The aircraft reportedly exploded with a loud bang before losing control and crashing in a field. The impact caused panic among nearby residents who rushed out of their homes.
Following the crash, police and administrative officials reached the site to begin rescue operations. Authorities cordoned off the area to manage villagers gathering near the scattered wreckage and smoke.
Both pilots succumbed to injuries following the incident. Officials reported a trainee and instructor were aboard when the aircraft crashed, with one dying at the spot and another later at a hospital.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the incident, examining possible technical malfunctions. Officials are also trying to ascertain the aircraft's origin from training academies in Kanpur and Rae Bareli.
