In order to mitigate the impact of increased fuel prices and encourage residents to choose other modes of transport, the Government is halving local train ticket prices from this Friday until the end of the year.
The Lithuanian government will introduce a 50 percent discount on local trains from October 9 until the end of the year, and from November 1, the scheme will be extended to long-distance trains and buses.
As fuel prices remain high, a 50% discount will be applied to local train tickets from October 9 until the end of this year, and tentatively from November 1 until the end of December - also to intercity buses, the Government announced on Tuesday.
