On Tuesday, Tom Dundon, owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, emailed season ticket holders, pledging to bring a championship to Portland.
Since taking ownership last season, Dundon has faced scrutiny for organizational changes, including layoffs that impacted 70 employees this past summer.
The ownership group is seeking $585 million in public funds to renovate the Moda Center, aiming to keep the facility among the NBA's best.
While the state of Oregon, Multnomah County, and the city of Portland have agreed on funding, the ownership group must still finalize a lease agreement.
Comparing the fanbase to his time with the Carolina Hurricanes, Dundon wrote, "On the arena, our focus is the long term.
