TOKYO >> Japan’s Toyota Motor has slashed its electric vehicle production plans for 2026 by a third, the Nikkei business daily reported, becoming the latest automaker to roll back electric car plans as EV sales momentum wanes.
Japanese carmaker Toyota has cut its plans to produce electric vehicles in 2026 by a third, Reuters reported, citing the Nikkei business daily.
Toyota Motor Corporation will scale back its global production of electric vehicles (EVs) to around 1 million units in 2026. This represents a 30% reduction from the 1.5 million units that the company had announced as its global EV sales plan for the same year.
