Toxic drug advisory in effect in Alert Bay after several overdoses

The notice follows several overdoses and urges people to carry Naloxone, avoid using alone and call 911 if poisoning is suspected.

The ʼNa̱mg̱is Health Centre has issued a drug poisoning alert for Alert Bay. The notice comes after a number overdoses occurred in the community the week of May 28. On May 2, Island Health also posted a drug poisoning and toxic drug advisory for the North Island area, including Alert Bay, due to contaminated substances in circulation.
