Tory Lanez Asks For Restraining Order Against A Prison Guard
Lanez says the guard threatened his safety and planned a transfer to a more dangerous yard, according to court filings.
On Wednesday, May 27, a judge granted 33-year-old rapper Tory Lanez a temporary restraining order against a correctional officer at California Men's Colony after attorney Crystal Morgan alleged the guard threatened to transfer the artist to a "more dangerous housing yard."
In April, Lanez filed a $100 million lawsuit against the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation and 50 officers over a 2025 attack during which he was stabbed 14 times by an inmate with a "violent history."
According to court documents, Lanez's team claims the guard mentioned his "near-fatal attack in a threatening manner," and the filing states that "due to ongoing threats, intimidation, and harassment," the rapper and his legal counsel fear for his life.
Lanez is asking that the officer have no direct contact with him except as necessary for ordinary functions, and he requested that all institution personnel "be ordered not to retaliate against" the musician and that records be preserved.
While serving a 10-year prison sentence for shooting Megan Thee Stallion in 2020, Lanez argues in his restraining order application that the guard's conduct constitutes an "ongoing threat" to his safety requiring immediate court intervention.
