The public inquiry into the Halloween hustle and bustle in Itaewon in 2022 in South Korea finally opened on Thursday, March 12.

The Special Investigation Committee (SIC) hearing to investigate the truth behind the October 29 Itaewon disaster and prevent a recurrence began on the 12th. The victims' families said, "We must ask again why the state failed to act on the day of the disaster." The SIC held its hearing in Jung-gu, Seoul, that morning.
