A 19-year-old Salem man struck and killed a pedestrian Aug. 26 he initially thought was a deer on Highway 20 in Lincoln County.

On Wednesday, August 26, 2026, at approximately 11:35 p.m., Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Highway 20 near milepost 10 east of Toledo.     The preliminary investigation indicated a beige 1996 Acura Integra, operated by 19-year old Orion David Sliwka of Salem, was traveling westbound on Highway 20 when it struck what was initially believed to be a deer.
