OCVIBE TO WELCOME TEAMLAB'S FIRST U.S. MUSEUM TO SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA
The $100 million project will occupy 110,000 square feet and is expected to open in 2030, officials said.
On Thursday, the Tokyo-based art collective TeamLab announced plans to open its first permanent United States museum at OCVibe, a 100-acre development in Anaheim, California.
The Samueli family, owners of the Anaheim Ducks, secured the partnership in a deal worth more than $100 million to bring the immersive experience to the $5 billion OCVibe district.
Designed by Smith-Clementi, the 110,000-square-foot museum will feature a shimmering exterior intended to reflect changing natural light and aims to 'leave room for imagination and discovery.'
OCVibe officials estimate that nearly 7,000 visitors could visit daily, positioning the museum as a cultural anchor for the district currently under construction near the Honda Center.
Set to open as soon as 2030, the museum joins a wave of immersive art destinations emerging across Southern California, including upcoming installations by Meow Wolf.
