The rupiah opened weaker at Rp 18,036 per US dollar. The weakening occurred after Bank Indonesia (BI) decided not to raise its benchmark interest rate.
According to Bloomberg, the Garuda currency fell 17 percent, or 0.09 percent, to IDR 18,039 per USD.
The rupiah opened 11 points lower, or 0.06 percent, at Rp18,033 per US dollar, compared to its previous close of Rp18,022 at the opening of trading today.
Ibrahim Assuaibi, projected that today's rupiah trading would fluctuate but close lower at around Rp18,020.
