New regulations regarding the use of tobacco products are being prepared in Türkiye. Preparations are underway for a new draft law containing comprehensive regulations in the fight against tobacco. Professor Dr. Toker Ergüder announced that the plan includes a lifetime ban on the sale of tobacco products to those born after January 1, 2015.
Professor Dr. Toker Ergüder, a faculty member at Gülhane Medical Faculty of Health Sciences University, shared details of the new tobacco control bill planned to be submitted to the Turkish Grand National Assembly in October. According to the draft, the sale of cigarettes will be banned for life for those born after January 1, 2015, and the production and sale of tobacco products will be completely ended in Türkiye by 2040.
