The U.S. House of Representatives has approved a sweeping new package of sanctions against Russia. They target the energy and defense sectors, President Vladimir Putin and other senior officials. The measures also cover a so-called shadowy fleet of tankers that Moscow uses to circumvent existing Western restrictions.
Both houses of the US Congress have voted to tighten sanctions against Russia, targeting the Russian energy and military industries, as well as the so-called shadow fleet.
The measure imposes fines on the Russian authorities, banks and a fleet of oil export vessels.
