The Brazilian Confederation of Football (CBF) has approved a new regulation aimed at progressively reducing the number of foreign footballers present in the matches of the two main categories of Brazilian football.
The CBF will gradually begin to decrease the number of foreign players who can sign up for each Primera División match. The limit will go from nine to eight in 2027 and the intention is to reach five in 2030, in a process that seeks to give greater prominence to the Brazilian footballer.
According to the CBF, the measure seeks to give more space to players under the age of 23 and improve the technical quality of Brazilian teams in the medium and long term
